As a member you will have all the rights that all our members have. ICAN is a charitable organization that distributes donations to charities, and other non-profits to further their work by making food and other consumer goods available to all. We also have available to our Charity and non-profit members training courseware that can be utilized to offer training on a wide variety of topics. Our main objective is to bring donors and recipients together to best service the needy, the hungry, children's programs and the homeless. |
Hunger in Canada and around the world is real and affects many. It affects men, women, and children who do not know where their next meal is coming from. The faces of hunger are as broad and diverse as the many faces in Canada . Hunger is REAL. It can be a neighbour who has fallen on hard times or lost his job, a mother who misses a meal to feed her child. Canada is the land of plenty where no one should have to do without. ICAN is dedicated to helping those living in poverty. |
A myriad of young and old, unemployed, elderly, disabled and those financially challenged, who live in our suburbs, cities, and rural areas, never anticipated that they would need our program to help feed their families. The hidden face of hunger is often masked but can be commonly found in soup kitchens, food banks and hostels. |
Our Association plays a vital role in assisting the socially disadvantaged. ICAN is striving to provide the necessities to our member Charitable Organizations, with food and consumer goods when they need it and in the quantity they require. We ensure that access is made available to our over 200 members in order to meet the needs of their recipients, which represent over 500,000 assisted in Ontario . We are a Non-Denominational, Non-Discriminatory and a Non-Intrusive organization that welcomes all charitable groups performing community activities for the less fortunate. Our Charities are the people who look into the faces of the needy, feel their pain and desperation and provide them with hope. Our members are the epitome and spirit of what charity represents. |
ICAN is proud to participate with the Public and Separate Schools in providing meals for the snack programs. |
ICAN is also excited to be able to participate in offering educational courseware that will provide our members with tools to educate those who otherwise would not have had the opportunity. The requirement to obtain the courseware by our members is that it is never duplicated, sold, or bartered, and that there are monthly statistics send to ICAN as to the participation levels in you centres. We can provide the necessities to get a centre started. |
Food is free; our program is based on a shared maintenance program for our members, which equates to 20 cents a pound. This covers our infrastructure costs to obtain all the items needed by our members. On behalf of ICAN and our 300 members we look forward to your association with us. Know that your membership contributes immensely in the fight against hunger and need. |
